The killing of Fadi Al-Batsh.. “Zionist bullets assassinate minds”

The Arab and Islamic region was shocked on the morning of April 21, with the news of the young Palestinian scientist Fadi Al-Batsh being shot dead in the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur, where he was lecturing at its university as part of a government scholarship in electrical engineering, before the Malaysian Prime Minister accused “foreign fingers” of being behind the operation. While Al-Batsh’s family says that he received several letters before his assassination indicating the involvement of the Zionist occupation in this. Fadi Al-Batsh, born in 1983, is a Palestinian scientist from the city of Jabalia in the Gaza Strip. He is married and leaves behind a wife and three children. He holds a doctorate in electrical engineering and lectures at the University of Kuala Lumpur. He has a patent for increasing the efficiency of electrical power networks. He also invented a device for improving electrical power transmission and is considered one of the first initiators in establishing the International Association of Palestinian Engineers in Malaysia. Fadi has received many scientific awards, most notably the Malaysian Khazanah Scholarship Award for the year 2016, which is considered the most prestigious, after obtaining a doctorate in electrical engineering, specializing in power electronics, from the Malaysian University of Malaya.

The assassination process

On the morning of April 21, 2018, Malaysian police said that unidentified persons riding a motorcycle fired ten bullets at university professor Fadi Al-Batsh as he was heading to dawn prayers in a mosque located near his residence in the capital, Kuala Lumpur, killing him instantly. The Al-Batsh family in Gaza accused the Zionist intelligence service (Mossad) of being behind the incident. Reuters quoted the Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister as saying that the perpetrators of the Al-Batsh assassination were linked to foreign intelligence. He confirmed that the perpetrator was from the Caucasus, and that they would ask the international police to track down the accused.

Systematic process

The assassination of Al-Batsh comes weeks after 3 similar assassinations of Palestinian scholars abroad since the beginning of 2018, in what was described by Palestinian newspapers as an “assassination of minds.” The most prominent of these operations targeted researcher Hisham Salim Maram, a specialist in nuclear physics, who was assassinated in France on February 26. Hassan Ali Khairuddin, a researcher specializing in economics, was also assassinated because of the subject of his doctoral thesis on Jewish control of the global economy in Canada on February 25. Iman Hussam Al-Razza, a researcher specializing in chemistry, was assassinated by a Zionist intelligence officer in Al-Bireh on February 25, before the Palestinians were saddened by the assassination of Fadi Al-Batsh, an electrical engineering researcher, in Malaysia on April 21.
