Last Tuesday, the capital, Berlin, concluded the fourth session of the “Berlin Dialogue for Renewable Energies” conference, with the participation of ministers from 40 countries and high-ranking delegations from the sectors of the economy, civil society and international organizations, with the aim of consulting on developing strategies for exploiting sustainable energy systems and employing them in the service of societies. The two-day conference (from April 29 to May 1) began with German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas delivering a speech in which he affirmed his country’s commitment to developing alternative energies and completing the environmental transformation plan that his country had begun in order to gradually transition to reliance on sustainable energies. The Minister stressed the importance of alternative energies, saying that they are available everywhere and in all countries, which motivates the governments of countries to develop and exploit them in the service of humanity, stability and peace. In turn, German Minister of Economy and Technology Peter Altmaier said in a similar speech that holding this international conference is evidence of interest in the necessity of developing renewable energies, stressing that this interest dictates that all countries work to exploit wind and solar energy in order to pave the way for the transition to renewable energies. He added that the similarity of the challenges faced by different countries in terms of developing renewable energies motivates these countries to hold dialogues aimed at unifying efforts in order to overcome the difficulties facing efforts to exploit these energies.
