Al-Faisal Center for Social Responsibility in Doha organized the Third International Scientific Conference on Social Responsibility under the title “Education is a Social Responsibility in Light of Changes and Crises,” during the period from May 6-8 of this year at the Qatar National Convention Center. The Director-General of the Al-Faisal Without Borders Foundation for Charitable Works, Abdul Latif Al-Yafei, said in a press conference held in the capital, Doha, and reported by the Qatari newspaper Al-Sharq, that the conference aims to provide various contributions across several educational axes that will be discussed over the course of three days to come up with recommendations that contribute to raising the level of education in the participating countries. Al-Yafei pointed out that one of the goals that the Foundation also seeks to achieve in organizing this international event for the third year in a row is to consolidate community work with a scientific framework, research and studies to achieve the best results. He explained that the conference will cover the scientific research aspect and highlight its importance in developing community work and making it more effective to achieve sustainable development, noting that one of the important aspects of the concept of social responsibility in the education sector is spreading its culture in the field of education in Arab countries through various research participations and benefiting from practical experiences, practices and innovative models of social responsibility concerned with supporting education in light of the transformations and crises taking place in the Arab region. For his part, Ali Talal Marai, President of the Conference and Executive Director of the Foundation, said that the conference organizing committee received approximately 170 papers from researchers from more than 13 Arab and foreign countries. More than 49 research abstracts were approved, in addition to receiving more than 29 complete approved papers for presentation at the conference. During the days of its holding, the conference discussed several topics related to the social responsibility of educational institutions, the social responsibility of individuals, private and public institutions and companies and their role in supporting education and enriching the educational process in light of transformations and crises, then an axis concerned with evaluating programs and mechanisms to promote and support the social responsibility of educational institutions, and an axis of legislation and legal initiatives in supporting and activating the social responsibility for education, in addition to an axis that highlights and clarifies models, practical practices and successful applications in the field of social responsibility towards education through examples applied in all countries of the world. It is noteworthy that the first international scientific conference on social responsibility was held in 2016 under the slogan “Reality and Foreseeing the Future,” while the second conference was organized last year under the title “Security is a Social Responsibility.”
