The line that is no longer red… Women in the study “Egypt Between Two Paths”

Human rights conditions in Egypt have declined to the lowest levels. Their levels have never been higher since the army generals overthrew elected President Mohamed Morsi, for whom the cameras recorded his famous sentence during his last speech in July 2013: “I want I protect the girls.” It later became clear what the only civilian president in the history of the Egyptian Republic was aiming for. The Egyptian girls’ legal situation quickly deteriorated, and they became permanent guests in the security and intelligence basements. As part of its endeavor to build a follow-up comparison of the process of conflict between the two paths: the revolutionary path and the path opposing it through the eras of Morsi and Sisi, which represent practical manifestations of the outcomes of each path; The study of the “Wa’a” Foundation for Research and Development, entitled (Egypt’s Revolution between Two Tracks… The Revolutionary Path and the Counter-Track: Comparative Models from the Morsi and Sisi Eras during the Period 2012-2016), paid attention to the human rights and humanitarian axis of Egyptian women between the eras of the revolution and the military coup. The study allocated the conditions of Egyptian women to an independent focus due to the expansion of violations that women and girls were subjected to in Egypt after the military coup. The study quoted what was published by Human Rights Monitor about violations against Egyptian women during the period from July 3, 2013 to 2015. It confirmed that women are at the forefront of victims of police violence many times in an unprecedented manner in the Egyptian state in light of the absence of accountability and punishment. Among the most important violations monitored by the report are the following: 118 girls were killed at the hands of army and police forces, and they were unarmed. Most of them were killed while participating in demonstrations or peaceful sit-ins while expressing their opinion in opposition to the current authorities, and some of them were killed inside… Their homes, or on the balconies of houses, and among those killed were also women in Sinai. They were killed either directly or by demolishing homes to kill those living inside them. The organization documented five cases of rape that unmarried girls were subjected to during their arrest and deportation to places of detention, while various human rights organizations documented a larger number, reaching 20 cases of rape inside prisons, and 12 of them occurred in Al-Abadiya prison, according to the organizations. Until this moment, none of the officials who raped the girls have been prosecuted, but rather the reports were filed, leaving the girls to suffer the physical and psychological pain they were subjected to. For him, while the criminal lives freely and enjoys his life without punishment. The report also monitored more than 1,147 cases of harassment monitored by human rights activists that occurred since July 3, 2013 during participation in political demonstrations and during periods of detention. Human rights organizations recorded 1,180. Injury to girls and women while participating in demonstrations, sit-ins, or inside prisons as a result of torture. The study also reported that 8 women and girls were subjected to enforced disappearance after the National Security Forces arrested and disappeared them for long periods, and their families knew nothing about their fate until the report was issued. As for the trials, 20 female citizens were referred to military courts, and 4 women were sentenced to death by hanging after they were arbitrarily arrested due to the authorities’ suspicion of their political affiliation in courts that lacked the minimum standards of fair trial. Human rights organizations documented the arbitrary dismissal of 424 female university students, thus halting their educational future in a dark tunnel. Egyptian security forces also killed more than 118 girls during demonstrations opposing the policies of the current Egyptian government, including journalist Habiba Ahmed Abdel Aziz, who was broadcasting live to Al Jazeera satellite channel about the largest massacre committed in the current century, in which thousands of innocent people were killed, “the dispersal of the Rabaa al-Adawiya sit-in.” She was killed by a bullet in the heart, which led to her immediate death. The 13-year-old girl, Israa Lotfy, was killed by the Egyptian police while she was in her tent at the Nahda sit-in opposing the authorities after she was shot in the head. Political activist Shaima Al-Sabagh was also killed after police forces attacked a demonstration of the Socialist Popular Alliance Party in the vicinity of Talaat Harb Square after she was hit with a birdshot in the head. One day earlier, the child Sondos Abu Bakr was killed in Alexandria as a result of birdshot fired by security and army forces at a demonstration in the Asafra area. It is noteworthy that the “Awareness” study aims to spread awareness and knowledge of the facts of the conflict between the paths of revolution and coup in a language based on numbers and statistics related to the Egyptian situation carried out by specialists in scientific centers, field studies, and summaries of recognized international organizations in economics, politics, human rights, and others. The study relied on a group of diverse sources, theoretical and field studies that dealt with the Egyptian situation in all its details during the various stages of the revolution, and included statistics, comparisons, and critical analyzes by experts and specialists, including economic reports such as: reports of the Central Bank of Egypt, the World Bank, the European Union, and the Economist, reports of the Ministry of Administrative Development in Egypt, the Central Auditing Organization, human rights organizations, the Mobilization and Statistics Authority, documentary reports, periodicals, and analysis of Political and economic speeches and statements issued by relevant authorities, And other sources.
